Poland Set to Station 800-Soldier Rocket Brigade in Central Towns

(MENAFN) Poland will establish a new rocket brigade comprising approximately 800 military personnel in central municipalities as part of an extensive defense modernization initiative, according to Thursday media reports.

The deployment advances military reinforcement efforts for the "defense of the Republic of Poland," a public broadcaster reported, citing Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed that the 2nd Rocket Brigade will operate from central towns Lowicz and Gostynin under the Armed Forces Strengthening Package 2023-2025 framework.

"Soon 800 soldiers will be stationed in this region," the defense minister announced Wednesday following the signing of a cooperation letter of intent with Gostynin's mayor addressing national security and defense collaboration.

The brigade will receive partial equipment consisting of South Korean K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers, with the majority undergoing domestic assembly operations.

Poland's military expansion reflects heightened security concerns following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, prompting Warsaw to dramatically accelerate defense spending and capabilities enhancement across all military branches.

The K239 Chunmoo system provides precision strike capabilities at extended ranges, representing a significant upgrade to Poland's artillery and rocket forces positioned to counter potential eastern threats.
