Provided by AGPThe agreement was signed in Warsaw by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz together with Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski. Representing the European Commission at the ceremony were EU Budget Commissioner Piotr Serafin and Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius.
As the largest recipient of the SAFE program, Poland is set to benefit from a broader €150 billion lending scheme that will be distributed to EU member states by 2030. The financing is intended to support collective defense procurement projects and the expansion of military-industrial capabilities across the bloc.
Kosiniak-Kamysz stated during the signing event that “This is an investment in the security of Poland and of Europe,” while also noting that the majority of procurement activity will be channeled toward national defense companies.
According to government estimates, roughly 89% of the allocated resources will remain within the country, reinforcing domestic producers and infrastructure initiatives linked to the defense sector.
The financial package is expected to help fund Poland’s key Eastern Shield border protection initiative, along with investments in anti-drone technology, air defense systems, artillery acquisitions, and enhancements to military transport infrastructure.
