Tusk Warns of Russian Efforts to Destabilize Poland
Addressing a Cabinet meeting, Tusk said Moscow was attempting to use the growing confrontation over Poland's Constitutional Tribunal to aggravate tensions between the government and President Karol Nawrocki. The dispute centers on the court's leadership and has developed into a broader political confrontation.
"We see the activity of Russia and pro-Russian politicians - in the world and in the country - around the defense of the Constitutional Tribunal," Tusk said.
The Polish leader also described the country's current tensions as "provoked by the Russians," connecting what he portrayed as Russian involvement in domestic political affairs with alleged interference in the US midterm elections.
According to Tusk, Moscow typically takes advantage of divisions that already exist within other countries, seeking to widen political disagreements and intensify instability rather than necessarily creating conflicts itself.
His accusations coincided with increased security measures along Poland's northeastern frontier with Russia, particularly near the Kaliningrad region.
